Washington, D.C. (Oct. 17, 2023) — In the lead up to the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association’s (PHCC) Connect Conference taking place in Cleveland, Ohio, the International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH®) thanks the PHCC Educational Foundation for its platinum level sponsorship.
The PHCC Educational Foundation provides innovative educational programming to enhance the growth and success of the plumbing and HVACR industry workforce. This donation will help advance initiatives throughout the United States.
“PHCC Educational Foundation is pleased to support IWSH’s work to improve access to water and sanitation services for underserved communities,” said Kevin Tindall, chair of the PHCC Educational Foundation. “IWSH offers solutions that not only address immediate needs for residents, but also educates decision makers about the importance of qualified and skilled labor.”
The PHCC Educational Foundation is vital to the plumbing sector, and with their new sponsorship of the IWSH Foundation there will be continued collaboration to provide essential services to areas in need, from households in Navajo Nation to communities in New Jersey and Alabama.
“The plumbing industry needs more qualified professionals to assist the more than two million Americans who lack access to clean drinking water at home and more than one million who don’t have adequate plumbing,” said Dan Quinonez, PHCC Educational Foundation executive director. “IWSH coordinates all aspects of our industry to provide solutions that can be scaled to meet the needs of these communities.”
In the years to come, IWSH will continue to expand its services, including improving water quality and efficiency through plumbing upgrades and repairs, demonstrating decentralized wastewater solutions, utilizing apprenticeship competitions for social impact projects, and applying new approaches to safe water access through rainwater and graywater systems.
“The generous donation from the PHCC Educational Foundation will support IWSH efforts to improve household access to safe water and sanitation, and workforce development in the plumbing sector,” said Gary Hile, IWSH Board of Trustees chair. “Training and education are core components of the projects IWSH implements, equipping homeowners and government officials with information to make plumbing interventions more sustainable for under-resourced communities.”
